AIA Peconic gets charter
The
American Institute of Architects has 298 components both nationally and
internationally. Last week, members of the AIA Peconic Chapter gathered
at Pierre’s in Bridgehampton to celebrate becoming the newest.
Three
years ago, a group of North and South fork architects decided to
separate from the Long Island Chapter of the AIA and form an
organization that would specifically address the needs of their
community, clientele and membership. They transformed the East End
Section of the AIA Long Island Chapter into AIA Peconic, a provisional
component of The American Institute of Architects.
AIA Peconic
was honored with a full component charter on June 12. National AIA Vice
President Peter Arsenault, AIA, current AIA New York State President
Orlando Maione, AIA, AIANYS Immediate Past President Russell Davidson,
AIA and AIANYS Executive Director Edward Farrell were in attendance to
make the presentation to more than 60 AIA Peconic members and guests.
Mr. Arsenault presented current AIA Peconic President Ian McDonald,
AIA, with the new charter and complimented AIA Peconic and
acknowledged its achievements over the past three years. During the
evening, the AIA and AIANYS guests offered their combined
congratulations to the AIA Peconic Board and membership and outlined
the support that the national and state organization provides to all
members.
“AIA Peconic should be proud for the efforts they have
made over the last three years,” National AIA Secretary David R.
Proffitt said via a statement he sent to the gathering in his absence.
“Reviewing your programs and events and knowing the general camaraderie
of your members sets the AIA Peconic on track to be an example of how
new startup chapters should be modeled. With that I wish the chapter
well.”
AIA Peconic is comprised of 103 Architects, 11 associate
architects and 22 allied members. For more information, visit the
